Advancing Skills of Specialists in Employment Training (ASSET) is a video-assisted training program designed to promote practical skills that job coaches and supported employment specialists apply in work settings. Emphasis is placed on training specialists with the skills necessary for successful community based, supported employment.

Specialists watch video exercises and participate in discussion and exercises guided by the trainer. Subject matter is divided into 5 units of instruction, beginning with an introduction to supported employment and walking the specialists through the processes of job marketing and development, job assessment, job-based instructional procedures, and behavioral intervention techniques.

A rehabilitation specialist, program director, community college instructor, or other professional who supervises employment specialists can present the program. The format of ASSET is flexible and is easily adaptable to cover the specific needs and procedures of an organization.
