ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILM

This documentary gives us an intimate look a Larry Selman, a 60 year old "collector" and community activist with developmental disabilities. For the las 31 years, his uncle, now in his mid 80's, has been his caretaker, renting Larry's apartment, doing his cooking and laundry. Although raising thousands of dollars yearly for charity, Larry lives below the poverty level.

This is a unique portrait of Larry's tenacity and, what his neighbors agree is, the unfailing force of his personality and the lasting bond he forged with them. His neighbors come to realize they have an intrinsic responsibility for Larry and begin their own collection, creating a fund for Larry, who they call the "Mayor of Bedford St". This film humanizes the story behind abstract statistics and shows ho a community built tolerance, understanding and embraces rather than excludes.
