Colleagues in the Classroom is designed to enhance the supervision skills of teachers who work with paraeducators and other classroom personnel in special education, general education, and inclusive education. It addresses skills related to leadership, clarification of roles and responsibilities, interpersonal communication, team building, prevention/management of supervision problems, and knowledge of types of personnel evaluation. The program focuses on reducing the potential for strain between teachers and paraeducators.

The package includes instructor's manual, a trainee's workbook, and 90 minutes of realistic video training. Video scenes illustrate classroom situations in which teachers interact with paraeducators or other school personnel, while exercises allow small groups to discuss how to respond in various situations. This training can be delivered in small groups, in school district in-service training, or in a university seminar. It is appropriate for teachers working at either the early intervention, elementary, or secondary level.
