Nutrition & Fitness
Nutrition and fitness are synonymous with diet and exercise, two of the most important ways we can achieve and maintain good health. Through a program that includes regular exercise, we can increase our body’s ability to metabolize food and help lower weight. By eating wholesome, healthy foods we increase strong bones, muscle and can improve our cardio-vascular system.

For a person with a disability, nutrition and fitness may be hard to achieve.  For someone with a physical disability, fitness can become a problem due to limitations on what exercises they can do.  For a senior with Alzheimer’s or a child with special needs, nutrition can present a problem due to diet restrictions related to the texture or sensitivity to certain foods.  Fortunately, professionals in the field of nutrition and exercise recognize these problems and have developed disability fitness training programs.

These programs include disability fitness education and information and can be useful to professionals, parents or family caregivers.  Program Development Associates Nutrition and Fitness Store has a variety of disability fitness programs, tools and resources available for people with disabilities, caregivers, and professionals that will teach, motivate and inspire good health through diet and exercise.
